GlossyBox Review: May 2012

Excuse the size of the balloon (I ran out of puff)
First of all I’d like to start by wishing GlossyBox a Happy 1st Birthday.

I’ve been subscribed to them ever since I saw Sara (swalkermakeup) do a video on their first box which featured the Nars Orgasm Illuminator and since then I’ve had high expectations for them.

If I’m honest I don't necessarily believe that they have kept up a high standard each month. I think there have only been a few products that I have genuinely loved (Hd brow Set. Deborah Lippmann Nail varnish in Razzle Dazzle. Yogi Flow Shower Gel.) Whilst the rest have either gone in the bin or have been given to my mother. I don't know whether it’s because of the first box that I almost feel disappointed in GlossyBox sometimes as they don’t always deliver to the standard I want them to.

Every month when I receive the box I debate whether to end my subscription and save the money for a high end product but something stops me. I don’t know if its the excitement of getting a package every month in the post or the desire to find out what you have received that month (after all it is a surprise box)

Anyway 11 months down the line I am still subscribed so without further ado here is my review on May 2012

Did anyone else get a Golden Ticket?

How cute!!

Firstly the packaging is amazing. I absolutely adore the tissue paper. It’s nice to see GlossyBox change things around and I definitely think they should keep this particular design for the future. Oh and how adorable is the little ‘one’ sticker?

My particular AnniversaryBox included:

1.Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel
2.Lolita Lempicka L’Eau en Blanc & Eau de Parfum: Full size £65, 100ml each
3.Neal’s Yard Remedies Rehydrating Rose Daily Moisture: Full size £12, 45ml
4.Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner: Full size £4.99, 5ml
5.Eldora False Eyelashes: Full size from £3.90

Oh and there was a complimentary special mirror inside as well.

 Now onto the review...

Now to be honest with you there wasn't anything i was  excited about in this box. It was nice to see something by Collection 2000 but I would never use this product in a million years. You see I am a massive fan of neutrals and I hardly ever wear eyeliner. Now if it was black that would be a different story but i got sent a gold colour?! When would i ever wear a gold eyeliner?? On another note the eyelashes seem nice. I haven’t heard much about Eldora eyelashes before but when the occasion comes I will be sure to test these out.

The Rose Daily Moisturiser seems nice but then again I haven’t tried it properly. Although I have dry skin so I don’t know whether this product will do much I will be sure to test it out and let you guys know.

The Noble Isle Bath and Shower Gel smells LUSH!! I can’t quite put my finger on what it reminds me of! ‘An immaculate fragrance evoking the beginnings of summer, with toning elderflower and antioxidant-charged gooseberry’  Maybe it’s the elderflower I adore? Who knows. I haven’t used this yet but I can assure you that this will be tested tonight! The product is in a small sample size so I am unsure whether to wait until I go on holiday in June and take it with me then? What do you think?

The final two things in my box were perfume samples. I am always unsure about these as the majority that are included in my box’s are more ‘grannylike’ perfumes which I absolutely HATE. However these samples surprised me. I spritzed them on this morning and they have lasted throughout the day.
They do however (to me) smell very similar to each other and remind me of a fragrance I used to have. All in all I do rather like them, the Eau de Parfum one has licorice flower in it which I Love (If you don’t know I adore anything with a licorice scent to it). The packaging looks really cute and whimsical which is appealing to look at although I don’t see myself repurchasing them (seeing as they are £65 a bottle). I will however quite happily use them up and return to my all time favourite fragrance - Elie Saab Le Parfum

Overall I’m not sure how I feel about this box or indeed GlossyBox as a whole. I guess I was expecting more things from them seeing as it was their first birthday. I know they have a few boxes where some people get different things to me which I don’t really like. I guess I wish that they put the same products in for everyone so that it’s fair that way?

I dunno maybe I should stop moaning and enjoy my little surprise every month.

Let me know your thoughts on GlossyBox - I hope you enjoyed my review :)
